This cake smash cutie is turning ONE! It’s such a fun and memorable milestone worth capturing, and I’m always overjoyed when families trust me to capture these precious moments!

Mom reached out to me a few weeks before this little one’s birthday and wanted to book a session to capture some family photos, but also some cake smash shots for her handsome boy! We got to chatting and decided to get her booked with the premium package, which allowed us to capture half family shots and half cake smash shots within 45 minutes. It was the perfect amount of time to capture a variety of shots to celebrate Liam’s birthday! We got to planning our shoot and decided to choose Sayen Gardens as our location. It’s my go to spot for cake smash sessions (and great for family photos, too)! Sayen Gardens gave us opportunity to capture some family shots by the bridges, within the pathways and rocky areas, but also some flat grass areas for the cake smash part!

If you’re looking for more information regarding cake smash sessions, I’d love to chat! These sessions are always a blast to photograph. During the family photos, we were able to capture a variety of posed and candid shots of this family of three, mom with Liam, dad with Liam, and mom and dad! I like to incorporate a variety of poses and prompts for my clients to make sure they have a gallery that isn’t all the same! We captured some walking shots, swinging shots, some sweet snuggles and kisses, and of course some straight forward smiles.

We wrapped up our family shots and got to assembling the set for Liam’s cake smash. I provide clients with a simple set for cake smash sessions, which is great for the minimalist look some love! But, I always let clients know we can add whatever else they would like to the set, and I’m so glad this mama did! Mom wanted a Winnie the Pooh theme for Liam’s smash, and collected and made the CUTEST props for it. From the little honey pots to the adorable signage to including her own Pooh (from her childhood), this set looked GREAT! We captured a few shots of just Liam with the set (and no cake) to make sure we got some variety, and we definitely captured the sweetest shots.

And now, for the actual cake smash portion, YAY! Baby Liam was absolutely stoked for his cake, but who wouldn’t be? This beautiful cake looked absolutely stunning, and I’ll definitely have to add them to my list of cake smash baker recommendations! While Liam was a bit hesitant at first, he did a GREAT job at eating his cake (that he was a bit upset when it was time to go and take the cake away LOL).
